ArmInfo. Iran is ready to assist in establishing long-term peace in the region. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) to the Republic of Armenia, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, stated this during his visit to the village of Verin Shorzha, Gegharkunik region, shelled by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the Ambassador arrived in Gegharkunik region accompanied by military attache Colonel Bahman Sadegin and representatives of the Armenian defense department.
The Ambassador expressed concern about the ongoing border incidents and stressed the need for mutual restraint and peaceful resolution of conflicts. At the same time, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri expressed condolences to the families of the servicemen who died in the recent clashes. Noting the need to respect internationally recognized borders, the diplomat said that ensuring peace in the South Caucasus meets the interests of the peoples of the region.
