ArmInfo. The bill on depriving Azerbaijan of military aid passed by the U.S. House of Representatives is a victory. According to the Voice of America, Congressman, member of the U.S. House of Representatives Adam Schiff, expressed this opinion.
At the same time, he stressed that this bill must go through several stages, in particular, the approval of the Senate and the President of the United States. "As a rule, over the years we have seen that such projects do not receive the approval of the Senate, but we must fight to achieve its ultimate success in the same content," said the Congressman. Speaking about the tense situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Congressman emphasized the importance of the growing role of the OSCE Minsk Group and the development of Armenian-American relations.
Adam Schiff stated that as a result of Azerbaijan's violation of the ceasefire, a tense situation has developed on the border, and, unfortunately, there are casualties on the Armenian side. In this regard, he said that the United States should not finance a country where human rights are violated and which threatens regional security and peace. At the same time, he touched upon the role of Russia in the situation on the border. In particular, Schiff stressed that the Russian Federation has always been guided by its own interests. "If it (RF) needs a ceasefire and this is in its interests, then there will be a ceasefire. And if it is necessary to keep the conflict frozen, be sure that the OSCE Minsk Group will never succeed, "the Congressman said.
At the same time, he added that Russia can be trusted only when the situation is within its interests. However, Schiff noted that Armenia is dependent on Russia. "Therefore, I want to strengthen the Armenian-American relations so that Armenia becomes more independent both from an economic point of view and from a security point of view," the American politician stressed. At the same time, according to Schiff, the Minsk Group should clearly speak out about the current situation, offering practical solutions to all parties. Congressman Adam Schiff also noted that he intends to continue to support all pro-Armenian initiatives, emphasizing in this context about $ 1 million recently allocated by the Federal Government for the construction of the Armenian- American Museum.
