ICRC expressed readiness to make maximum efforts to resolve  humanitarian issues arising due to Artsakh war

ArmInfo.Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Peter Maurer, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

As the press service of the government reports, Nikol Pashinyan  highly appreciated the efforts exerted by the International Committee  of the Red Cross to settle the issue of Armenian prisoners of war and  civilians being illegally held in Azerbaijan and other humanitarian  concerns in the region. As an urgent task, the Acting Prime Minister  stressed the importance of immediate repatriation of Armenian  prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees.

Nikol Pashinyan called attention to the fact that Azerbaijan had  launched fabricated criminal proceedings against Armenian POWs and  concealed the exact number of those held in captivity. Nikol  Pashinyan described Azerbaijan's actions as unacceptable, considering  them a gross violation of international humanitarian law.

Mr. Maurer assured that the ICRC will do its utmost in addressing  humanitarian issues. The interlocutors stressed the importance of  strengthening and deepening interaction on an institutional basis.   An arrangement was made to intensify ties and make contacts regular.
