ArmInfo. The "My Step" ruling faction of the National Assembly of the 7th convocation initiated legislative changes regulating the use of photo and video recording equipment, as well as drones in the border zone.
The corresponding legislative initiative after the first reading in the National Assembly received a positive conclusion at an extraordinary sitting of the standing committee on defense and security of the Armenian parliament on July 30 and was included in the agenda of today's extraordinary sitting of the parliament.
As the co-rapporteur of the bill, MP from the "My Step" faction Armen Khachatryan, explained, at present these legal relations have not been settled. "Residents of border areas, as well as tourists, are conducting such filming, which causes justified discontent of the border troops of both ours and the neighboring state," he said, adding that the sector needs urgent legal regulation.
Thus, the amendments to the Law "On the State Border" establish the corresponding rules, in case of violation of which the amendment comes into force already in the Code of Administrative Offenses, as a result of which, if the established rules are violated, an administrative penalty will be imposed in the form of a fine in the amount of 100 thousand drams.
In addition, Khachatryan called on the Armenian government to come up with a similar initiative. In particular, according to him, today the heads of local administrations and communities are constantly sharing information with representatives of the media. He separately touched upon the fact that "information is constantly coming from the Syunik region, allegedly that the Azerbaijanis have invaded the territory of the Republic of Armenia." "It is necessary to introduce certain rules establishing that state officials do not have the right to disseminate information about the situation at the border. This direction is not regulated in any way," the MP concluded.
