ArmInfo. On July 27, the Armenian Criminal Court of Appeal, chaired by Judge Armen Danielyan, upheld the measure of restraint in the form of arrest against head of the Kajaran community of the Syunik region of RA Manvel Paramazyan.
Thus, the court rejected the lawyers' claim against the decision of the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan on the arrest. The defense intends to appeal to the Court of Cassation.
It should be reminded that the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan, chaired by Judge Gagik Poghosyan, on July 10 made a decision to choose as a preventive measure in the form of imprisonment for a period of 2 months against mayor of Kajaran Manvel Paramazyan. Paramazyan was charged under Part 3 of Art. 38- 178, part 4 of Art. 311, part 2 of Art. 154.2 of the RA Criminal Code, in particular, he is accused of fraud, bribery and obstruction of the free expression of the will of voters. Lawyer Lusine Sahakyan said that her client does not accept the charges, considers all this to be part of the chain of political persecution unleashed against him.
On July 26, the Criminal Court of Appeal, chaired by Judge Armen Danielyan, began considering the lawyer's complaint against the decision to arrest the head of the Kajaran community in his absence. Lusine Sahakyan explained the absence of her client by mistrust of the presiding judge. In the opinion of the defense, Danielyan is fulfilling the order of the authorities, in connection with which she petitioned for the disqualification of the judge.
Paramazyan is a member of the Reviving Armenia Party founded by former governor of Syunik Vahe Hakobyan.
