ArmInfo. In Yerevan, with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the opening ceremony of a new restoration laboratory, equipped with modern equipment, took place.
As reported by the press service of the RA ESCS Ministry, the event was held within the framework of the "Program for the improvement of equipment for the restoration and preservation of archaeological finds" of the Scientific research center of the historical and cultural heritage.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Ara Khzmalyan congratulated the participants on such an unprecedented achievement, and expressed his conviction that the presence of a rich heritage, archaeological layers and values, in addition to pride, is also a great responsibility.
"Only a people with an ancient history can appreciate the historical and cultural heritage of another ancient people in this way," he said, expressing deep gratitude to the Ambassador of Japan to the RA and JICA for the implementation of the program in Armenia.
In turn, Ambassador of Japan to Armenia Fukushima Masanori noted that Tokyo and Yerevan are linked by time-tested friendly relations, rich Armenian-Japanese historical and intercultural ties, which will further strengthen the new equipped center. Stressing the importance of this program, the Japanese diplomat expressed hope for the continuation of the already begun cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representative Yukihiko Ejiri, added that the application submitted by the Scientific research center of the historical and cultural heritage was deemed reasonable by the Japanese side, as it, in addition to meeting the technical criteria set by the Japanese side, would also serve the general public. He stated that the restored items will be exhibited in various museums in Armenia, and through them the public will get to know their culture.
"We saw a huge amount of cultural heritage that has come down to us from time immemorial. It was obvious that if the Scientific research center of the historical and cultural heritage does not restore or preserve them, then it could be lost forever. Therefore, the restoration and preservation of this heritage is our generation responsibility before the next generations, " Yukihiko summed up.
It should be noted that within the framework of the program, the laboratory was equipped with the latest equipment of the latest generation, which has no analogues in the field of restoration of archaeological finds in the Republic of Armenia.
