ArmInfo.Second president of Armenia, leader of the "Armenia" bloc Robert Kocharian saw geopolitical goals in the EU's assistance program to Armenia.
So, in an interview with several Armenian media, referring to the rather tempting assistance that the EU plans to provide to Armenia, Kocharian noted that first of all, we need to compare the amounts of funds that other countries receive under the New Neighborhood program - Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan.
"Comparing the ratio of the population, we will understand whether this is part of the program, or there is a special attitude towards Armenia. I compared these 1.5 billion euros with help for other states and the ratio is approximately the same. The explanation is the crisis, the fight against coronavirus, I consider it normal, everything depends on what programs will be implemented, whether they will be aimed at developing the country or strengthening the interests of the West, "the politician said.
Kocharian added that the announced EU assistance is aimed at the economic development of the country, and this can only be welcomed, but there are programs that have political overtones.
"I see that an attempt is being made here to present it as a special attitude, and I would say, a special attitude towards Russia, which shows a contrasting picture. It seems that there are geopolitical goals here. The US and the EU have always been attentive to the democratic processes in Armenia, but I do not understand this when they announce the grant after the acting Prime Minister said that all officials should share the views of the ruling power.
Only in the days of the USSR did officials have to agree with the ideology of the communist party, but then there was ideology, but there is no ideology now. It is nonsense that a firefighter, a social worker distributing pensions, and others should share the views of the ruling power, the question is whether you are ready to serve us or not. We now have a political force worse than the Communist Party. It is based on loyalty or disloyalty, willingness to serve or not. It is unacceptable to welcome such a democracy, and even allocate additional funds. This behavior is unacceptable. There is definitely a geopolitical color here, " said the second president. At the same time, Kocharian expressed confidence that Armenia must restore its subjectivity so that it is reckoned with, but there is still no step in this direction. "For example, there was a big commotion over the Black Lake in the country due to the fact that the CSTO and Russia do not interfere in this matter. When an Armenian official in Armenia declares that we will not start a war over 30% of the Black Lake, if so the head of the country thinks why the CSTO and Russia, which have not even heard of the Black Lake, should think differently, and why do you put this problem in the pocket of the CSTO or Russia? By the way, when they talk about territorial integrity, they do not talk about any percentage, and if they violated by 5%, then this is nothing. Territorial integrity is either there or not. You are not ready to do anything, you expect someone to do something. This is simply absurd. There will not be even a grain of respect for you, they will greet you according to the protocol, they will accept you, they will smile, but they will think of you differently, "Kocharyan noted, while urging to stay in the country and fight for our Motherland.
