ArmInfo.Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia Suren Sahakyan has been dismissed from his post.
The corresponding decision, according to the official website of the government, was signed by acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on July 21.
To recall, Suren Sahakyan was appointed to this position by the decision of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on January 17, 2021.
Sahakyan is a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. He worked at the Institute of Physical Research of the Armenian Academy of Sciences. He worked in the research and production association "Laser Technology", held the post of head of the higher education department of the Ministry of Education. In 1991 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, then he was the head of the Tax State Inspection of Armenia. 1994-1999. He was the plenipotentiary minister of the Armenian Embassy in the Russian Federation and the extraordinary envoy. In 1995-1999 was a plenipotentiary representative in the board of the interstate economic committee of the CIS. In 1999-2002 was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia to Russia. In 2002-2005 was the general director of the "RD Management Service" company. In 2005-2007 was the general director of the "Evrazet" company. In 2008- 2011 was the CEO of . In 2011-2018 was the head of the department "VTB-Armenia". In 2002, by decree of the President of Russia, he was awarded the Order of Friendship.
