ArmInfo. The "I Have Honor" bloc decided to take parliamentary mandates and participate in the work of the parliament of the 8th convocation.
"Refusal of parliamentary seats would give zero political and legal result. And parliamentary powers will become another way to fight the authorities, will prevent possible destructive steps for the state. Moreover, participation in the work of the legislative body will allow using the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy in the interests of Armenia," press secretary of the "Hayrenik" party Sos Hakobyan wrote on Facebook.
He also added that the representatives of the bloc have not yet announced self-recusal, but they still have time until 6:00pm today.
As a reminder, following the elections, the "I Have Honor" bloc received 7 mandates to the new parliament.
According to the list presented to the CEC, the bloc will be represented in the National Assembly by: former director of the National Security Service and the bloc's leader Artur Vanetsyan; former mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan; Anna Mkrtchyan, Assistant to the former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, former chairman of the Control Chamber Ishkhan Zakaryan; Hayk Mamijanyan, chairof the youth organization of the Republican Party, Deputy of the Parliament of the 7th convocation Taguhi Tovmasyan; former adviser to the President of Artsakh Tigran Abrahamyan.
The "Armenia" bloc will also take parliamentary mandates. Representative of the ARF Bureau (Dashnaktsutyun) in Armenia Ishkhan Saghatelyan confirmed this information.
The "Armenia" bloc will have 29 seats in the new parliament. The full list of MPs who will enter the new parliament is not yet known. However, a few days earlier, the leader of the bloc, Robert Kocharian, announced his self-recusal as a MP, at the same time stressing that he remains the leader of "Armenia" bloc. Member of the bloc, Alexander Khachaturyan, also announced his self-recusal yesterday. Today is the deadline when candidates for MP can lay down their parliamentary mandates. Applications are accepted by the RA CEC until 6:00pm. To note, the first session of the newly elected parliament will be held on August 2.
