ArmInfo. Today in St. Petersburg Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov met with Prosecutors General of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The Prosecutors General of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan took part in the meeting.
Welcoming his colleagues, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed that the commonality of the tasks facing the prosecutor's offices of the CIS member states dictates the need to consolidate efforts, including within the framework of various international forums.
Igor Krasnov expressed confidence that "the meeting will give an additional impetus to building a safe space for the Commonwealth." At the end of the event, the Prosecutor General of Russia invited the Prosecutors General of the CIS member states to celebrate a landmark event for the Russian prosecutor's office - the 300th anniversary of its formation, which will be celebrated on January 12, 2022. Meanwhile, according to the RA General Prosecutor's Office, after the meeting of the prosecutors of the CIS countries, a bilateral Davtyan-Krasnov meeting took place.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the role of his Armenian counterpart in strengthening relations between the prosecutors of the two countries, as well as in increasing the effectiveness of the Coordination Council of CIS Prosecutors and strengthening the spirit of partnership in international relations.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the post-war humanitarian situation in the zone of the Karabakh conflict, issues related to strengthening peace in the region, protecting the rights of the people of Artsakh, as well as the border settlements of Armenia.
Pointing to the importance of the recent positive dynamics in the return of Armenian prisoners of war, Artur Davtyan stressed the need to unconditionally continue the process both in accordance with international humanitarian law and in terms of fulfilling obligations in accordance with the 8th paragraph of the trilateral ceasefire statement of November 10, 2020 years - as an important guarantee of the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
The RA Prosecutor General highlighted the work of the Russian peacekeepers and other forces to strengthen stability in the region and the constructive role of Igor Krasnov in resolving legal and humanitarian issues, stressing his efforts to implement the agreements reached on the implementation of paragraph 8 of the trilateral statement on the return of Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan.
