Representatives of the South Caucasian Railway and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia got acquainted with the process of overhaul of railway tracks on the Maisyan-Jajur section. According to the press service of the company, the Commission, headed by Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Simonyan and General Director of "South Caucasus Railway" Aleksey Melnikov , visited, in particular, the Jajur-Kaltakhchi section, where 2 km of track was thoroughly restored.
The overhaul of the track began in mid-April. In general, this year it is planned in the amount of 9.5 kilometers.
The brigade of the Masis track machine station has already started field work on the Sanahin-Tumanyan stretch in the Lori region of Armenia. It is also planned to carry out repair work on the Jajur-Kaltakhchi, Proshyan-Yeghvard and Sevan- Tsovagyugh sections.
The overhaul of the tracks involves the renewal of the upper layer of the earthen embankment, the complete replacement of the track panel with the replacement of wooden sleepers with reinforced concrete ones.
This year the company plans to purchase and install 28 thousand reinforced concrete sleepers and 15.3 thousand cubic meters of crushed stone. The size of the planned investments of SCR in infrastructure alone for 2021 is 2 billion 773 million drams.
The South Caucasian Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railways OJSC and carries out concession management of the Armenian railways.
The railway infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to the concession management of the SCR CJSC in accordance with the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The term of the concession management is 30 years with a renewal right for another 10 years.
