ArmInfo. On July 1, the Armenian government approved the proposal to sign the protocol "On the implementation of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on the readmission of persons living without permission" between the government of the Republic of Armenia and the government of the Republic of Latvia".
The parties to the agreement provide for the creation of quick effective legal procedures based on reciprocity, for the identification, safe and regulated return of persons who do not meet or no longer satisfy the requirements for entry into the territory of Armenia or one of the EU member states for stay or residence in these countries, and facilitating the transit of such persons.
According to the justification for the document, the Republic of Armenia signed bilateral agreements on readmission with 10 EU member states. The agreements will make it possible to establish joint procedures with all EU member states for the readmission of persons without the permission of residing in the territory of the Parties.
In general, in recent years, the number of readmission applications received under the Agreement between the European Union and on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation has increased significantly. So, if in 2012-2017, 1446 readmission claims on 2812 persons were received, then in 2018 alone, 1030 claims on 2045 persons were received, and in January-November 2019, 803 claims for readmission of 1647 persons were received. It should be noted that no requests for readmission have been received from the Republic of Latvia yet.
The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the proposal to sign a protocol "On the implementation of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union on the readmission of persons living without permission" between the RA government and the Polish government. According to the substantiation, 91 readmission claims were received from the Republic of Poland in 2014-2019 for 130 people.
