ArmInfo. President of Nagorno Karabakh Arayik Harutyunyan reacted to the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh by the American state of New Jersey.
"Several hours ago, the Senate of the American state of New Jersey unanimously adopted a resolution on the recognition of Artsakh. It is the tenth US state to recognize the independence of Artsakh. On behalf of the people of Artsakh and on my own behalf, I express my sincere gratitude to the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) and Senator Joseph Lagan for the purposeful work done. There is no alternative to international recognition of the right of the people of the Republic of Artsakh to self- determination, and we will continue our stubborn struggle to achieve this goal, "Harutyunyan wrote on his Facebook page.
The previous evening, the Armenian National Congress reported that the Senate of New Jersey unanimously adopted a resolution on the recognition of Artsakh, initiated by State Senator Joseph Lagan. Thus, New Jersey became the 10th US state to recognize Artsakh. In addition to recognizing Artsakh, the resolution condemns Turkey and Azerbaijan for their aggression against the civilian population of Artsakh and Armenia and confirms the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the state of New Jersey
