ArmInfo. Second president of Armenia, leader of the "Armenia" bloc Robert Kocharian expressed confidence that in terms of the next one and a half year in Armenia the need to hold early parliamentary elections will once again mature. He stated this on June 29 during a rally of supporters of the "Armenia" bloc.
Kocharian explained this opinion by the lack of understanding of the ruling authorities that their style of work was the main reason for the current crisis in the country. "If one of the parties won, which gained at least 1% following the results of early elections, I would say that the crisis has been overcome. But we have not overcome the crisis while those who have brought the country to this state are in power. That is, we will not get answers to the question "why did we lose", "why 5 thousand people died", "why did we lose Shushi and Hadrut"? There are 2 ways for the current government - to continue repressions and persecutions, and to take steps that are more interesting to Baku and Ankara, and not to Armenia, or to learn lessons and drastically change policy. But it is obvious that the authorities have chosen the first path. But we are the political force that will fight until the final victory over the crisis, "he said.
At the same time, the former president of Armenia assured that the bloc headed by him will become an institutional and radical opposition, which, using all the possibilities of the Constitution, will restore public confidence in the parliamentary opposition. "We will work during the day and night in order to be a radical opposition, to fight for the rights of the people. Those who have talked a lot about fighting corruption are the most corrupt authorities in Armenia. We will prove this by combining parliamentary work with the struggle on the streets and in the information field, "he assured.
At the same time, Kocharian touched upon the results of the early parliamentary elections, calling them irrational and needing a sociological explanation. In addition, he noted that there are big doubts about 200 thousand votes, saying that this issue will be decided in the Constitutional Court.
He admitted that the expectations of the "Armenia" bloc on the basis of the voting results were not justified, since all the previous polls in the country testified to something completely different. In addition, referring to a number of such studies, Kocharian stressed that the public is in a depressed state. "People did not know why they were voting for the ruling party, and therefore we need to study in detail and understand what their motivation was," the politician said.
