According to him, against the background of recent events in the region, Georgia has taken correct, timely and sustainable steps. "Azerbaijan, Armenia and the United States entrusted Georgia with the function of a mediator in the region. The Prime Minister coped well with the difficult test and the role of a mediator.
This was a victory not only for our country, but for the entire region," Samkharadze said, Georgia online reports.
The MP noted that Georgia is returning to itself the most important function in the region - the function of a mediator.
As ArmInfo previously reported, Azerbaijan handed over 15 Armenian POWs to Armenia on June 12 in exchange for providing Armenia with maps of minefields, where the location of 97 thousand anti-tank and anti-personnel mines in the Aghdam region was recorded. The exchange was held at the Azerbaijani- Georgian border with the participation of representatives of Georgia. According to the parties, the exchange was carried out with the support of Georgia, the USA, the EU and the Swedish OSCE chairmanship.
