As reported by the Kremlin press service, the Russian president congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party he leads in the early elections to the National Assembly and wished success in the process of forming the new government of Armenia. Mutual commitment was reaffirmed for the all-round strengthening of Russian-Armenian allied relations.
During the exchange of views on Nagorno-Karabakh, the importance of consistent implementation of the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021 was emphasized. The Russian side will continue active mediation efforts aimed at ensuring stability in the region.
"It was agreed on further personal contacts," the Kremlin said in a statement. Meanwhile, according to the press service of the acting Prime Minister Pashinyan, during a telephone conversation, President Putin congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the successful holding of elections in Armenia and the victory recorded at them.
The interlocutors also touched upon the situation in the region and the progress in implementing the provisions of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021. "In this context, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia emphasized the paramount importance of the return of the prisoners of war," Pashinyan's press service reported.
