ArmInfo. The Special Investigation Service of Armenia made a decision to involve the head of the "Izmirlyan" MC, a traumatologist, professor, a member of the "Armenia" bloc Armen Charchyan as an accused.
According to Charchyan's lawyer Erik Aleksanyan, the investigator made a decision on a petition regarding the election of a preventive measure in the form of arrest against Charchyan.
"The doctor himself does not admit the accusation brought against him, he refused to testify. The head of the Izmirlian MC believes that the persecution against him is of a political nature," the professor's defense notes.
Earlier, ArmInfo already reported that the Central Election Commission of Armenia at a meeting on June 21 satisfied the petition of the Prosecutor General's Office to initiate criminal proceedings against the director of the Izmirlian Medical Center, a member of the " Armenia" bloc Armen Charchyan for forcing to vote in the early parliamentary elections.
The press service of the RA General Prosecutor's Office recalled that a criminal case was initiated against Charchyan under paragraph 2 of part 4 of article 154.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (giving a bribe to voters, receiving a bribe, violating the ban on charity during elections, or obstructing the free expression of the voter's will) on 18 June. On the same day he was arrested, but the court later refused to arrest him. On Sunday morning, the head of the Medical Center was released from custody.
