ArmInfo. Azerbaijan, proceeding from the norms and principles of international law, advocates the restoration of relations with Armenia on the basis of the principles of inviolability of borders and territorial integrity. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated this today at a briefing following talks with his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
Commenting on the results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia, he said: "Extraordinary parliamentary elections were held in Armenia yesterday, the formation of a new government is expected. We believe that the Armenian authorities, having analyzed the causes of the crisis, will draw the right conclusions."
In his opinion, the causes of the crisis are not caused by defeat in the war, but are rooted in the policy of "aggression that Armenia has been pursuing for decades, violating international law, using force, changing the recognized borders of states."
Azerbaijan, the minister continued, based on the norms and principles of international law, stands for the restoration of relations based on the principles of inviolability of borders and territorial integrity. At the same time, Bayramov forgot that for the second month already, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces had illegally invaded the sovereign territories of Armenia and refuse to leave the Armenian lands. "Now Armenia must make a decision on its own. I informed my Kazakh counterpart about the need to return hundreds of thousands of IDPs to their lands. We also discussed potential cooperation in this direction," he added, Turan reports. At the same time, Bayramov noted that the implementation of some provisions of the trilateral statements is being delayed.
