ArmInfo.Candidate for prime minister of Armenia, leader of the <Azatakan> (Liberal-Ed. note) Party, former secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh, former commander of the Defense Army, Samvel Babayan on June 18 at a press conference, summing up the results of the election campaign, said that he was ready to cooperate with any political force aimed at constitutional and legislative changes that would establish clearer rules.
So, according to Babayan, his party, acting under the slogan "Protected and Strong Motherland", believes that, for example, the ineffective fight against corruption is due to the fact that the law provides appropriate "loopholes" and allows maneuver. "The reason for our chaos is that the legislative base has no specificity - it has a duality of interpretation," he said. At the same time, as of today, he does not see such a political force, as well as an obvious favorite of the pre-election race.
Babayan touched upon the results of the last Artsakh war. He once again noted that the peoples are not losing the war, but the current government. "These people (the current government, Ed. note) were not in their place. War is a game of chess and it is won not by the strength of muscles and the number of weapons, but by the presence of brains. The main reason for Armenia's defeat is the leadership of the military department," he said .
As for the transfer of a maps of minefields in exchange for Armenian prisoners held by Baku, according to Babayan, Azerbaijan trades and will trade the lives of people. And this, according to the former secretary of the Artsakh Security Council, will continue until Armenia, for example, decided to held the Azerbaijani military who illegally invaded the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and judge them as saboteurs or terrorists, as does Baku, and then try to exchange them for the Armenians held in Azerbaijan. At the same time, according to Babayan, high officials in the Armenian Defense Ministry are not capable of this.
Meanwhile, as Samvel Babayan noted, in order for Armenia to be respected and considered with its interests, it needs to build a strong army. "The Armenian people must understand that no ally will come to save us- our only ally is us," the former commander of the Defense Army emphasized. The pre-election campaign for early parliamentary elections in Armenia started on June 7 and will end on June 18 at 24:00. June 19 is a day of silence. The elections will be held on June 20 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, local time. To participate in them, 25 political forces are registered - 21 parties and 4 blocs.
