ArmInfo.The high-speed train Yerevan-Tbilisi-Batumi-Yerevan of the South Caucasus Railway successfully completed its first trip.
According to the press service of the SCR, more than 60 passengers arrived in Batumi for the opening of the tourist season. The train from Armenia was greeted at the stations of the Georgian railway with music and bread and salt, and in Batumi the passengers were greeted by the head of the Armenian community and representatives of the consulate. We draw the attention of passengers to the need for strict adherence to coronavirus travel restrictions, which are still in effect in interstate traffic. All citizens entering Georgia (regardless of vaccination) present certificates confirming negative PCR diagnostics of coronavirus (COVID-19) with a maximum period of 72 hours ago.
On the third day after entering the country, all foreign citizens must undergo PCR testing at their own expense. Also, the test is required to enter Armenia.
We ask all passengers to familiarize themselves with the information presented on the official website of the SCR in order to avoid possible difficulties when crossing the border. To note,three passengers of the first trip were removed from the train by the Georgian authorities, two of them - due to the lack of PCR tests.
The South Caucasian Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railways OJSC and carries out concession management of the Armenian railways. The railway infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to the concession management of the SCR CJSC in accordance with the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The term of the concession management is 30 years with the right to extend it for another 10 years.
