ArmInfo. It is obvious that not a single political force in Armenia has the unconditional support of citizens and is not a popular leader. This was stated by head of the "Bright Armenia" party, candidate for prime minister of the country Emdon Marukyan during the pre-election campaign in Yerevan on June 17.
At the same time, he added that there are no longer the realities of the "velvet revolution". "This is an ordinary pre-election campaign, and according to the electoral data, no one will win these elections. And as we say, the people must win these elections. This means that a government of national unity and harmony must be formed in the Armenian parliament for the first time," he assured.
At the same time, the head of the parliamentary opposition faction believes that there will be an attempt on the part of political forces to provoke clashes between citizens. But Marukyan is convinced that these attempts will be in vain, since the strategy of "Bright Armenia" will work, and none of the forces will have an overwhelming majority of citizens' votes. "Consequently, everyone will put up with their 20% of the vote and calmly sit at a round table to form a government of national unity," he said, expressing his conviction that if the people do not support the upheaval, then attempts to push the citizens apart will not be crowned with success.
He also called to unite and send forces against the enemy, who is now in Syunik and Gegharkunik. "There is no need to hate each other, you need to unite against a common enemy who is now sitting in Syunik and Gegharkunik. Go there (Syunik and Gegharkunik) and direct your anger against the enemy. We need to force the enemy to leave our territory by negotiation," Marukyan added, reminding that history proves that Armenia suffered defeat when it was internally divided. In this vein, he recalled that 13 years later the country is following the same path as on March 1, 2008, the roles have simply changed.
