ArmInfo. International observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) at the early elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, scheduled for June 20, 2021, are starting short-term monitoring.
According to the press service of the IPA CIS, on June 19, the observers will take part in the solemn ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the Mother Armenia monument (10:00am, Victory Park).
On the same day, a number of meetings will take place in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia: the monitoring group of the IPA CIS will hold negotiations with the leadership of the parliament (12:00pm), as well as with representatives of the headquarters of political parties and electoral blocs that have nominated their candidates for the upcoming elections. Conversations with the leadership of the headquarters of the parties "Prosperous Armenia" (11:00), "Civil Contract" (11:30) and "Bright Armenia" (12:30pm) are scheduled.
A meeting of observers with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan (3:00 pm, CEC building) is scheduled for June 19, during which an exchange of views on the course of the current election campaign is expected. In the afternoon, meetings with representatives of the parties will continue: the monitoring group will visit the headquarters of the Armenia bloc (4:00 pm, Northern Avenue, 10, headquarters office), and then will hold meetings with representatives of the headquarters of the I Have the Honor and the Our Home is Armenia (Kilikia conference hall of the Radisson Blu Hotel, 5:00pm and 6:00pm, respectively).
On June 20, observers will attend the opening of polling stations in Yerevan, after which they will continue monitoring voting in various cities and regions of the republic along individual routes.
At 4:00pm a meeting with the leadership of the observer mission from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will take place, during which the observers will exchange with their European colleagues their impressions of the long-term and short-term monitoring in the Republic of Armenia.
On June 21, the members of the group will take part in the final press conference of the CIS Observer Mission (11:00am, "Ani Plaza" hotel), where they will sum up the results of the monitoring. To remind, a group of international observers from the IPA CIS, at the invitation of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, is monitoring the early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Armenia. It includes MPs and representatives of the highest legislative bodies of power from seven member states of the IPA CIS: the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as employees of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations.
