ArmInfo.Unblocking transport and economic ties in the South Caucasus is, in general, a priority, the most important task in implementation, and all the countries of the region, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia are interested in it. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this on May 10 during a weekly briefing.
She recalled that the relevant agreements were recorded in the joint statements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021. "The work in this direction was entrusted to the deputy prime ministers of the three states within the framework of a trilateral working group. Industry specialists of the three countries were instructed to take the necessary measures to restore communications, which in principle allows in the near future to proceed to the phased implementation of joint infrastructure projects. We expect that the trilateral working group will resume its activities in the near future, in accordance with the trilateral agreements, "she said.
At the same time, Zakharova stressed that incidents on certain sections of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, of course, do not contribute to the normalization of the general background of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "And we call on the parties to restraint, de-escalation of tension and solution of contradictions exclusively by peaceful, negotiated means," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman summed up.
