"Freedom House is concerned by the violent rhetoric used by Armenian politicians in These actions drive destructive polarization and hate speech as the country prepares for historic parliamentary elections," the organization said in a statement, which expressed solidarity with the Armenian Ombudsman on the negative assessment of the environment inside the country.
The human rights organization also shared a statement by the Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan, in which the latter calls on the country's political forces to avoid the propaganda of hatred and incitement to hostility in society.
To note, early parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 20 of this year in Armenia, in which 22 parties and 4 blocs expressed their participation (one left the election race two days ago, Ed. note). The election campaign will last 12 days. The elections are monitored, including by international observers such as the OSCE / ODIHR, the IPA CIS, and others. According to the RA Police, as of May 31, 2021, 2,581,093 citizens have the right to take part in the electoral processes scheduled for June 20.
