ArmInfo. The hot, unhealthy pre-election situation in Armenia, the lacks of compliance with the elementary rules of the campaign was quite expected and clear from the very beginning. President of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
Early elections to the National Assembly of Armenia will be held on June 20. 22 parties and 4 blocs are registered to participate in them. On June 7, the election campaign officially started in the country.
"There are enough objective reasons for the emergence of this phenomenon, especially in the post-war period, in our country. And, in general, the unpredictability of the election results prompts their participants to take up swearing, gossip and mutual accusations. We saw all these unpleasant manifestations of Armenian-style politics even before the official start of the election campaign. And naturally, the less time remains until June 20, the more all this will spill out on us, including from TV screens and from the pages of the media, "he stressed.
Such a pre-election situation and the general environment in the country, according to the expert's forecasts, will lead to the fact that the June 20 elections will become the most dangerous and unpredictable elections in Armenia. In Navasardian's opinion, the situation is further aggravated by the inability and impotence, which in many cases are demonstrated by state bodies: law enforcement agencies, courts, election commissions and even observers, that is, the bodies responsible for ensuring the legality and fairness of elections. The problems noted above, in Navasardyan's opinion, pose serious risks for the formation of an environment of anarchy, both on the day of the elections and after summing up their results. At the same time, the overwhelming majority of the Armenian society does not see itself as a part of these destructive processes, including the prospect of a civil war. About which some forces also say a lot.
"In this light, I do not expect mass support from society for forces and groups that can initiate serious clashes. Moreover, I do not exclude serious public opposition to initiators of such clashes. In any case, law enforcement agencies, all bodies designed to ensure the normal conduct elections and those responsible for this process must act toughly and within the framework of their own authority and responsibility. This will avoid the deterioration of the situation after the elections, designed to improve this situation, "concluded Navasardyan.
