ArmInfo.There is no other description to the current policy of the Armenian leadership than as an ostrich. Independent analyst Saro Saroyan expressed this opinion  to ArmInfo.

"Thus, these people are trying to move forward, completely immersed  in the election campaign and ignoring the situation at the border.  Apparently, they hope that the problems will be solved on their own,  which is impossible. Moreover, Azerbaijan periodically generates new  problems, and this will continue. All this is understood by many,  only our military-political leadership pretends that it does not  understand, "he stressed.

According to the analyst, the Armenian leadership has driven itself  into a dead end with its own hands, which does not imply and does not  leave any alternative to it besides submission to proposals,  initiatives and pressure from outside. And the same acting Prime  Minister Pashinyan reacts on this situation with offers of assistance  addressed either to Russia or to the international community. Such a  lack of clarity, in Saroyan's opinion, is evidence of a possible game  through which the Armenian leadership vainly hopes to persuade one  side or the other to act in its favor.

In reality, the West and the Russian Federation, according to the  analyst, look at the situation from a completely different angle,  suggesting retaliatory steps only in the event of serious steps from  Armenia.  Saroyan considers Pashinyan's European voyage, through  which the prime minister is trying to force Moscow to fulfill its own  allied obligations to Armenia, as another manifestation of provincial  agility. The analyst is convinced that it is completely impossible to  achieve a result through such manipulations. In this light, he  stressed the need to have alternative foreign policy paths in the  mind, having the subjectivity of political leadership, and not  demonstrating them.

According to the analyst, various international military-political  circles assess the situation in Armenia much more rationally than its  own leadership. Accordingly, they see the lack of real will of  Yerevan to any path of movement in various situations and the lack of  sincerity in the declared desires. In this light, the policy of  Yerevan in the direction of creating new obstacles for Moscow, in his  opinion, is of no interest to either the West or, moreover, Russia  itself.  "At the same time, I do not at all consider the current  policy of Russia towards Armenia a natural result of the behavior of  our leadership. Only Armenians can think that the Moscow is punishing  us for wrong behavior. I assess such thoughts as a manifestation of  slavish psychology and thinking. In reality, this policy of Russia is  conditioned by the need for geopolitical balancing, in turn  conditioned by the activation of Turkey. From the point of view of  Moscow and Ankara, the geopolitical balance in the South Caucasus  continues to be violated. Accordingly, during the same meeting  between Putin and Biden, I expect an attempt to bring it into  balance, "he stressed.  

According to the analyst, Armenia in all this, should be concerned  with calculating its own risks arising from these geopolitical  shifts. In particular, the risks of receiving new blows, which is by  no means excluded. In his opinion, the problem, in particular, should  be considered in the light of the possibilities for Armenia to  preserve its sovereignty and territory, if the country continues to  adhere to the current foreign policy orientation. In this light,  Saroyan noted that for Armenia, maintaining the current foreign  policy contains almost as many risks as changing it.
