ArmInfo.Russia will continue to actively contribute to the resolution of international conflicts. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the Primakov Readings forum.
In this vein, he recalled that Russia is helping to restore peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh after the bloody war in the Karabakh conflict zone was stopped.
He also touched upon the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and stated that it must be coordinated with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs (Russia, USA, France).
"I understand that now many are talking about the fact that the status of Nagorno-Karabakh remains unresolved. This will have to be finally agreed with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, who at this stage, probably, should not stir up the problem of status, but contribute to strengthening confidence-building measures, solving humanitarian issues, so that Armenians and Azerbaijanis again begin to live side by side together in security and in economic well-being. And then, I assure you, in a couple or three years, if we establish such a life, all status problems will be solved much easier, "said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, Lavrov urged not to focus on many statements made by the capitals of the region's countries, including those directly involved in the conflict and neighboring countries. "Emotions prevail there. We call on everyone to help calm the situation and establish a peaceful life for those on earth. We are actively engaged in this through our peacekeeping contingent, through the Emergencies Ministry," Lavrov summed up.
