ArmInfo.Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan criticized the political forces speculating on the issue of prisoners of war during the election campaign. Thus, Tatoyan's statement indicates the inadmissibility of speculation during the election campaign on the return of Armenian prisoners illegally detained in Azerbaijan, especially talking about their exchange with other people and expressing readiness for exchange.
"Obviously, this is inadmissible, and speculation only increases tensions in the country, complicates the return of prisoners. Thus, for the Azerbaijani authorities, the" price "of returning prisoners is simply increasing. And, of course, this is open disrespect for the prisoners and their families, their feelings. Therefore, I demand from everyone to completely stop speculation on the return of prisoners. It is necessary not to complicate the process with speculations, but to make real efforts to return our compatriots illegally detained in Azerbaijan, "Tatoyan stressed.
To note, yesterday the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan criticized the statement of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the prisoners could wait another one or two months, and suggested that he exchange his son for Armenian servicemen. Sargsyan expressed his conviction in this vein that then the Armenian authorities would deal with the issue of prisoners of war day and night, and not make such statements.
In turn, acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in response to this, announced his readiness to exchange his son for prisoners of war in Azerbaijan. "And I say to Aliyev officially: I offer my son in exchange for all the prisoners," Pashinyan said, proposing to engage in such an exchange to his opponents in the parliamentary elections, former presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharian. Then Pashinyan's son Ashot wrote on his Facebook page that he was ready to make such an exchange.
