ArmInfo. We must not miss the chance to shake the hand extended to us by the West, otherwise others will shake it, Ara Papyan, a member of the Council of the National Democratic Pole, an international lawyer and political scientist, said at a press conference on June 8. According to him, everything is being done so that the citizens of Armenia have a false impression that there is no alternative to the choice - either Pashinyan, or Kocharyan, either Turkey, or Russia. Meanwhile, as pointed out by the internationalist, there are quite healthy forces, in particular, in the person of the National Democratic Pole Party, which are going to the elections with radically new and more productive ideas. "You cannot choose the old ones and expect new results from them," he said.
As for the choice of the foreign policy vector, according to Papyan, in the 21st century it is wrong to limit the choice to Russia or Turkey. In particular, according to the political scientist, the role of the West has increased in the modern world, especially the role of the "United States of the Biden period." "We will become an eyewitness to this on June 16, during the Biden-Putin meeting, and then the second stage in the development of the political system, formed as a result of the Second World War and partially dismantled in the 90s, will begin. Already at the third stage - in 10-15 years, the final dismantling of the Russian Empire will take place, "he said. In this context, according to Papyan, one cannot ignore this factor when making plans for the future.
Member of the Council of the National Democratic Pole Varuzhan Avetisyan, in turn, noted that in fact, the Armenian people have no choice. "Choosing between Pashinyan and Kocharyan, in any case, you choose the Russian colonial system," he said. Then, as Avetisyan said, Russia plans to leave the region, and, in order not to let the West here, leaves Turkey as "governor".
Party representative Vahe Gasparyan stressed that despite the spread of information, the National Democratic Pole does not plan to join NATO, as it considers membership in any supranational bloc inexpedient for Armenia. "We propose to apply to the United States to obtain the status of the main ally - not a NATO member. That is, this status is granted to those non-NATO countries that wish to have the status of a military ally of the United States. 18 countries have this status, including Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Israel, Argentina, Australia, India, Egypt and others, "he explained. At the same time, as Gasparyan noted, in case of victory, the party plans to revise the conditions for the deployment of a Russian military base in Armenia, as well as to consider the possibility of deploying a military base of another country, for example, France.
