ArmInfo.RPA reminded acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan under whose rule large arms contracts were concluded, the lion's share of supplies of which came in 2018-2020.
Thus, commenting on the earlier statement made by acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, that it was during his rule that the largest amount of weapons was purchased, leader of the youth wing of the Republican Party of Armenia Hayk Mamidzhanyan, in particular, wrote: "The plan for the procurement of ammunition purchased from 2018 to 2020, as well as 80% of the financial resources were approved by third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. All that was needed was to take them. But you could not do that either. In order to take a selfie, you replaced the air defense systems with an SU without missiles. So don't you dare deceive people. "
To recall, both days earlier and today, during a meeting with his supporters, Pashinyan stated that the army was financed the most during his command, $ 398 million was spent on armaments in Armenia in the last 10 years, most of which during his rule. He stated that this is evidenced by the data of the Stockholm Peace Research Institute. According to him, since 2018, the military budget of Armenia has been increased by 48%, the republic in 2019 acquired 62% of the weapons purchased over the past ten years. In just three years from 2018 to 2020, the current authorities have acquired between 75% and 80% of the volume of weapons received over the past 10 years.
Meanwhile, experts in Armenia have already called these statements by Pashinyan manipulation, stating that he distorted SIPRI's data. Moreover, Armenian defense experts recalled that almost all agreements on the supply of weapons were concluded before 2018, after which they were only implemented, and even then not completely, in a greatly curtailed and modified form.
Experts accused Pashinyan of canceling the army rearmament program for 2018-2024, which was adopted back in February 2018. Under this program, it was planned (and in most cases contracts were signed) for the purchase of drones, camouflage nets, decoys, air defense and much more.
