ArmInfo. The third president of Armenia, leader of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, at a meeting with supporters of the "I Have the Honor" bloc in Masis, spoke about the issue of providing a corridor through the territory of the Republic of Armenia. So, answering the relevant question, he in particular said: "I am not aware of this corridor. We cannot give a corridor to anyone. How can we give a corridor, why to give a corridor?"
When asked whether he opposes the provision of the corridor, Sargsyan said that he is one hundred percent against it. In his opinion, there are no problems with the opening of regional communications. "But what corridor are we talking about? That is, we are obliged to give them a corridor? By what document? By what agreement? Why?" He asked.
Sargsyan said that he is not aware of any agreements and assured that if the current authorities are removed, no subsequent authorities in the RA will think about some kind of corridor.
"Speaking about the corridor, the question arises of which corridor, under whose control it will be. How can we allocate a part of our territory, say - we give this part under someone else's control. This is out of the question," Sargsyan said, pointing out the danger of such steps.
It should be reminded that the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan, by putting pressure on Armenia, is trying to open a corridor through the Syunik region, which will allow Nakhijevan to be connected with Azerbaijan by road and rail.
