ArmInfo. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan awaits French leader Emmanuel Macron's visit to Yerevan in autumn. He stated this on June 1 at a joint press conference with Macron in Paris. The video from the meeting of the acting head of government was published on his Facebook page.
Pashinyan recalled that the visit of the French President to the Republic of Armenia had been planned for a long time, but due to a number of reasons, including the pandemic, it did not take place. "I hope that together we will overcome the coronavirus and other crises. We are waiting for you in Yerevan in autumn," he said.
Acting Prime Minister added that Armenia and France have a special relationship. Armenia and the Armenian people have always felt the support of France and President Macron personally, he said. "From the first day of the crisis, President Macron spoke the language of truth and his voice was heard throughout the world," said the acting heads of government. In his opinion, the French leader continues his mission, which is extremely important for resolving crises in the region.
In this context, Pashinyan emphasized the important role of France as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the establishment of long-term and stable peace in the region. In addition, as pointed out by the acting Prime Minister, it is extremely important that after the end of the war, the co-chairs made statements on several occasions, in which, in fact, they stated their readiness to continue negotiations. He thanked France for the humanitarian aid provided and highly appreciated its involvement in economic projects in Armenia. "There are many projects in Armenia - infrastructural, energy, economic, in which the participation of France is very important," Pashinyan said, adding that the French government is also interested in these projects.
To note, Pashinyan is in Paris on a working visit, where he will hold several meetings with the country's leadership. After the Elysee Palace, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia will leave for the Senate. Before meeting with the President of the Senate, Nikol Pashinyan will lay flowers at the recently opened bust of world famous singer Charles Aznavour in Paris in memory of the great musician. After meeting with the President of the Senate, Nikol Pashinyan will be received at the Paris City Hall. There he will meet with Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The agenda of Paris will be limited to a meeting with the Armenian community. On June 2, the acting head of government will leave for Belgium, where negotiations with the President of the European Council Charles Michel are planned. The agenda also includes a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
