ArmInfo. On June 1, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan, in an interview with journalists, commented on the statement of former Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian on the reasons for his resignation from the post of Foreign Minister.
Yesterday the acting RA Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian held a farewell meeting with the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expressed gratitude to the latter for the professionalism and dedication shown during the joint work. According to Aivazian, when he made the decision to head the RA Foreign Ministry, he was guided by one criterion. "This Ministry, born of independence, must steadfastly defend our sovereignty, our independence, our state and national interests. I hope I did not leave you ashamed, my decision to resign was due precisely to this reason, that there has never been any doubt that that this Ministry can take a step or agree with some ideas, initiatives that run counter to our statehood, national- state interests. We have come a long way together, and today I am leaving with the kindest memories, " he said.
"I don't think we have a situation where there are such problems. Naturally, national interests are priority for all of us and I do not see any reason for such statements. But it is better to send the question to the former minister," Grigoryan said.
Answering the question that Aivazian's statement appeared immediately after the meeting of the Security Council on May 27, in connection with which there are doubts that, perhaps, there was another - unpublished initiative, Grigoryan urged to exclude such rumors. "This is excluded. I do not understand how you can constantly spread information that there are secret documents or attachments. There is no such thing. Everything that is discussed is as public as possible. Moreover, I can assure you that there can be no secret documents that will not be published or publicly will not be discussed. There is no such thing and such abuse is unnecessary ", the acting Deputy Prime Minister assured.
At the same time, Grigoryan does not share the concern that a number of resignations in the Foreign Ministry could lead to a collapse in the state system.
To recall, on May 27 at a meeting of the Security Council of the republic in an expanded composition the acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed, in his words, the shortest path to de-escalation of the border situation with Azerbaijan, namely, the armed units of the two sides withdraw the border proportionally and return to their places of permanent deployment. Then, international observers from the Russian Federation or other co-chairing countries of the OSBE Minsk Group are deployed along the border. After the meeting of the Security Council, Acting Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian has resigned. It is worth noting that according to the information circulated in the media, Aivazian strongly disagreed with the policy pursued by the RA government headed by the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia in connection with the Karabakh conflict and the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Nevertheless, the leader of the parliamentary faction "My Step" Lilit Makunts, on May 31 in parliament, commenting on the possible connection of the resignation of the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian with the proposal of Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Aivazian was informed about the content of the proposal and had no objections.
