ArmInfo.Head of the Ministry of Health of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan asks for forgiveness from relatives in connection with improper storage of the remains of those who laid down their heads for their homeland during the 44-day Karabakh war.
Thus, Avanesyan's statement reads in particular: "Dear compatriots, first of all, I want to apologize to the relatives for improper storage of bodies and remains registered yesterday at the Abovyan branch of the Center for Forensic Medical Examination. My omission was that after some travels, I personally did not visit the center and was not convinced of the details of the storage conditions for the bodies.
I assure you that over the past year, the Forensic Medical Center has made every effort to ensure the process of conducting forensic examinations and identifying bodies.
As it was reported yesterday in the statement of the RA Ministry of Health, an official investigation will be carried out into the fact with the corresponding consequences. I should also note that the Ministry has always worked to provide transparent information and is always in touch with the relatives of the victims. Today, the Center for Forensic Medicine will again publish information on the results of the examination of bodies and remains. I would also like to emphasize that the bodies and remains have already passed the examination, and information on the results has always been available to relatives. " It should be noted that the day before relatives of the missing persons during the 44-day Karabakh war blocked Heratsi Street in Yerevan (at the intersection of Heratsi and Koryun streets there is the capital's central morgue). According to them, the authorities hid the bodies of more than 200 victims in refrigerators for a long time to avoid unnecessary noise.
After that, photographs were posted on the network, where it can be seen that the bodies of the dead servicemen are stored in a plastic bag in the morgue of the city of Abovyan in improper conditions. In this regard, the Ministry of Health was forced to issue a statement in which it confirmed the storage of bodies and remains in the basement of the Center in the city of Abovyan (National Pulmonology Center SNCO). "Some relatives expressed a desire to move the remains examined and identified in the branch of the forensic medical center" Scientific and Practical Center for Forensic Examination "in the city of Abovyan, which were temporarily stored in a basement with heat-insulated walls. Despite the fact that moving the remains is inexpedient and current conditions of their storage correspond to the requirements, we decided to meet the wishes of the parents and move them to the refrigerator section of another forensic medical center. The remains passed the appropriate identification procedure, and we are waiting for their relatives to take them for burial, "the Ministry of Health assured.
