ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian accepted the resignation of acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian. The press service of the RA MFA reports.
To recall, Aivazian announced his resignation on the evening of May 27. On this very day, in the morning, six Armenian servicemen were taken prisoner in the Armenian sovereign territory of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. And on the same day, acting RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his readiness to sign a new document by Azerbaijan, this time on the part of the beginning of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, he assured that this document is 100% in the interests of the RA.
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Ghalachyan and press secretary of the department Anna Naghdalyan also officially resigned.
Thus, today former head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ara Aivazian, disclosing the reason for his resignation, noted that he remains committed to the principle that <the Armenian Foreign Ministry, born of independence, must steadfastly defend our sovereignty, our independence, our state and national interests. I hope I have not left you ashamed, my decision to resign was due precisely to this reason, that there was never any doubt that this Ministry could take a step or agree with some ideas, initiatives that run counter to our statehood, national-state interests ".
