In connection with the capture of the Armenian military, the Mother See of Echmiadzin also made a statement, expressing concern over the current situation.
"Such behavior of the Azerbaijani authorities, which violates the norms of international law, contradicts the generally accepted ideas about creative humanity. The events of recent days on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in Gegharkunik and Syunik are an infringement on the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia and the right of our people to a peaceful and safe life. Such provocative actions demonstrate real militant tendencies of Azerbaijan, endangering multifaceted efforts to restore peace and stability in the region. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin calls on the international community to take steps in international human rights bodies to release Armenian servicemen and other prisoners of war and prevent further undesirable developments in the region, "the message reads.
