ArmInfo. The doors of the CSTO should be open to everyone, including Azerbaijan. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, answering the question, stated in an interview with Izvestia whether, for example, can Uzbekistan return to the CSTO and how is rapprochement with Azerbaijan going?
Rudenko recalled that Uzbekistan did not formally withdraw from the CSTO, it only suspended its participation. According to him, therefore, if Tashkent has such a desire, it will be easiest for him to return.
"As for other countries, including Azerbaijan, the doors of the CSTO should be open to everyone. The only thing that can limit accession is certain provisions of the organization's charter, according to which, in order to participate in the CSTO, it is necessary to have diplomatic relations between its members. There are no such relations so far between Azerbaijan and Armenia. When they are established - we hope that sooner or later it will happen - then this issue can also arise on a practical plane in one form or another, "Rudenko summed up.
