ArmInfo.Representatives of the Human Rights Defender visited the hospital of Armenian servicemen who were injured in an incident provoked by the Azerbaijani military on May 20 in the Sev lich region (Black Lake, Ed. note), the Ombudsman's office on Facebook reports.
According to the information, on behalf of the Ombudsman, representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) met with the injured RA servicemen immediately after they were transferred to the Yerevan military hospital.
During separate conversations, it turned out that on May 20, Azerbaijani armed people, again referring to an openly false map, tried to occupy a hill located in the area adjacent to Sev Lich in the Syunik region of Armenia - in a deeper area in the direction of the village of Khoznavar.
The Armenian military demanded that the Azerbaijani military return to their original position. "At first, they said they agreed to fulfill the demand, but after a while - in the evening, showing aggressive behavior, they deliberately provoked a fight and a group of several dozen soldiers attacked the Armenian servicemen. In general, the incident lasted 20-30 minutes, after which the Azerbaijani military were forced leave this area, " said in the message.
It is noted that doctors assess the state of health of all Armenian servicemen as satisfactory. Mostly, they received hand injuries, maxillofacial injuries and other minor injuries, and currently continue to receive the necessary medical care. The RA Human Rights Defender considers the specific action described by the Azerbaijani armed servicemen as a serious provocation, which is actually directed against the civilian population of the RA Syunik villages, taking into account their attempt to appear illegally in the direction of Khoznavar village. The RA Ombudsman considers the indicated actions of the armed servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in the context of the illegal invasion of the sovereign territory of Armenia on May 12 and May 13, threats with the demonstration of weapons against the shepherds of Syunik and Gegharkunik, the implementation of provocations near border villages, the formation of tension among the civilian population. "All these frankly illegal, criminally punishable actions of the Azerbaijani military should be considered as a single intention: What happened once again confirms the absolute necessity of the proposal of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia to create a security zone," the Ombudsman's office said.
