ArmInfo. It is high time for the government and Nikol Pashinyan personally to face the reality and finally begin a sincere dialogue with society. And not to engage in populism and, claiming that the decisions are made by the people in the country, in fact, make these decisions alone. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by one of the leaders of the social-democratic party "Citizen's Decision" Garegin Miskaryan.
"The late, unconvincing official reaction to yesterday's document on the Internet suggests that the ruling force, to put it mildly, does not control the situation. And the information chaos fueled by Azerbaijan and supporters of destabilization within Armenia itself further deepens the public's distrust of the authorities. Against such a background, I think the government should be aware that hiding information, realities and any agreements from the people will not lead to anything good. Neither for the government itself nor for us, "he said.
On May 20, the son-in-law of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Mikael Minasyan, stated that Pashinyan agreed to new principles of demarcation and territorial concessions in exchange for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia. In confirmation, he posted a tripartite document, which, according to his statements, is at the stage of approval. Pashinyan, during a speech in parliament on the same day, confirmed the authenticity of the draft document published on the network, stating that he was going to sign it, "since the agreement is fully consistent with the interests of Armenia."
According to the politician, it is impossible to carry out the demarcation and delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan, which is so important for Armenia, in such conditions and in a similar situation. At least at this stage and in such a rush. And, nevertheless, according to Miskaryan, today all this is being imposed on the Armenian leadership from outside. And if the latter fails to resist this pressure, the border with Azerbaijan will be determined on the basis of a document that is unlikely to correspond to the interests of Armenia.
According to the politician, the illegal crossing of the state border of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions, unfortunately, speaks of the inability of the state to ensure the safety of its own citizens. And in turn, about the inability of the CSTO to ensure the security of the member states. The latter raises a number of questions, the answers to which practically do not sound. "The security situation is deteriorating against the background of how our government continues to pin hopes on the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani military from its own sovereign territory to the CSTO.
Meanwhile, today it is more than obvious that this structure by any means avoids fulfilling its own obligations to protect the interests of its own member. In this light, placing Yerevan's hopes on this ineffective and inactive bureaucratic organization only raises new questions for the Pashinyan government, "he summed up.
