Head of the "Bright Armenia" parliamentary faction, Edmon Marukyan, has just read out the text of a statement from the rostrum of the parliament, in which he called on acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to restrain himself from signing the document, which implies changing the territories of the republic.
So, according to Marukyan, according to Article 116 of the Constitution of Armenia that the National Assembly ratifies, suspends or denounces international treaties that relate to fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as the duties of a person and a citizen, and Article 205 stating that the issues concerning the change of the territory of the Republic of Armenia are resolved by means of a referendum, and the resolution on holding a referendum, upon the proposal of the Government, is adopted by the National Assembly by a majority of votes of the total number of MPs.
In this regard, as the head of the opposition party stressed, the acting the head of government is not authorized to sign any document that concerning the RA citizens' rights, freedoms and territorial sovereignty.
In addition, Edmon Marukyan asked the acting Minister of Defense, the acting Prime Minister, as well as the Secretary of the Security Council, to refute or confirm the text of the agreement, which is distributed on the Internet, and which implies territorial concessions from Armenia.
