Parliamentarian: Azerbaijanis at Sev Lich are a consequence of  specific geopolitical impulses

Already today it can be noted with confidence  that this incident is in no way a local border incident, the lawmaker  of the parliamentary faction "My Step" Artur Hovhannisyan expressed a  similar opinion to ArmInfo.

Since May 12, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have entered into the  territory of Armenia up to 3.5 kilometers in order to establish  control over Lake Sev Lich. On May 13, Yerevan officially turned to  the CSTO for help in this regard. And on May 14, acting Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan turned personally to Russian President  Vladimir Putin for help. According to the latest data, as a result of  negotiations, the saboteurs retreated 2 kilometers, however, part of  them is still on the territory of Armenia.  Today - in the morning of  May 19, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia issued a statement in  which it expressed hope for a favorable conclusion of the  negotiations and a peaceful settlement of the situation around Lake  Sev Lich. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense stressed that in  the absence of a solution to the problem within a reasonable time  frame, the Armenian Armed Forces reserve the right to resolve the  problem in other ways, including through the use of force.

"It is known that the territory of Armenia, where at this stage the  Azerbaijani military are still located, is completely under the  control of the Armenian Armed Forces in terms of communication. Thus,  if desired, our military may well withdraw the Azerbaijanis from our  territory by force. However, given the greater scale of this problem  and the presence of a geopolitical component in it, we need to  calculate and take into account all the possible consequences of such  a step, "he stressed.  Taking into account the current army reforms,  the leadership of Armenia, in the opinion of the parliamentarian,  first of all needs to act towards resolving this situation created by  Baku exclusively through diplomatic and political channels. In this  light, Hovhannisyan highlighted the use by Yerevan of the  capabilities of the CSTO and the mechanisms of the union agreement  between Armenia and Russia in order to solve the problem within this  framework. Which, according to him, has already brought certain  results and is expected to put a final point on it.

At the same time, the parliamentarian by no means excludes the  continuation of Azerbaijani provocations even in the event that the  crisis at Sev Lich has been resolved. He considers the sharply  increased appetites of the Aliyev-Erdogan alliance after last year's  war as evidence of such a forecast, which allows the Azerbaijani  president to constantly present new, aggressive, territorial claims  to Armenia.  "Such a tandem policy pursues the goal of exerting as  much pressure on Armenia as possible. However, here I would like to  highlight the clear, targeted response of the international community  in response to the obvious aggression of Azerbaijan against Armenia.  Today it is obvious to everyone that the Azerbaijani military is not  on the disputed territory, but on the sovereign territory of the  Republic of Armenia. And this is proved by all the geographical maps  in circulation, "the parliamentarian concluded.
