European Parliament again calls on Turkey to recognize the Armenian  Genocide and refrain from inflammatory actions in Karabakh

The European Parliament, at a plenary session on May 19, in its report on Turkey, confirmed its call for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.   According to the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Belgium,  Turkey is also strongly recommended to refrain from anti-Armenian  propaganda and hate speech, and fully comply with its obligations to  protect Armenian culture. The report also contains several references  to Turkey's negative role in the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.

"In particular: it condemns the fact that Turkey, instead of calling  for a cessation of hostilities and the resumption of peace talks  under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, unconditionally supported  the military actions of Azerbaijan, promoting their continuation,  thereby resorting to provocative rhetoric, thereby contributing to  escalating tensions, not reducing them.

The transfer of foreign fighters from Syria and other places to  Nagorno-Karabakh is condemned, which is confirmed by the OSCE Minsk  Group co-chairing countries.

Turkey is once again strongly encouraged to refrain from any action  or rhetoric that could escalate tensions in the South Caucasus and to  facilitate international dialogue or peace process within the  framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The transfer of militants, mercenaries from jihadist groups from the  North of Syria to Libya and the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict  is strongly condemned, "the message reads.

In addition, the European Parliament calls on the Turkish government  to support comprehensive legislation prohibiting discrimination  against the rights of ethnic and religious minorities living in  Turkey, including citizens of Armenian origin, Christians.
