ArmInfo. RA Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonyan received the delegation of the main staff of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) observation mission headed by Owen Murphy. The mission will monitor the early parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 20.
As reported by the press service of the RA MFA, Apitonyan appreciated the role of the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission in the monitoring of the elections and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the body in the electoral processes.
Artak Apitonyan confirmed Armenia's readiness to hold fair and transparent elections in accordance with European standards.
To recall in March of this year, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, against the background of the internal political crisis in the country in connection with the deplorable results of the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, after consultations with the parliamentary forces, announced the holding of early parliamentary elections in the country on June 20. On May 10, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was dissolved by force of law, after it did not elect a new prime minister for the second time. On the same day, RA President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on holding elections in the country on June 20.
