ArmInfo. The situation that developed after the invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into some border areas of the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia on May 12 and 13 under the pretext of "adjusting the borders" has not yet been resolved as of the morning of May 15. This is stated in the official statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
"The Armenian side clearly demanded from the Azerbaijani military to return to their positions without any preconditions. The negotiations, which began on May 12 with the aim of a peaceful resolution of the problem, will continue today," the source said.
Despite the fact that as a result of the actions taken by the Armenian units, the Azerbaijani military were forced to leave some areas, some of them, according to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, are currently still in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia emphasize the need for a peaceful settlement of the situation, stating that encroachments on the sovereign territories of Armenia are absolutely unacceptable, and the Azerbaijani side is obliged to return to its original positions without preconditions. The Defense Ministry also noted that in all areas where the Azerbaijani Armed Forces tried to ensure positional advancement and the servicemen themselves, are under the full control of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
"Given the large amount of misinformation spread on the Internet and various media around the current situation, we once again urge you to refrain from disseminating unverified, especially false information. During the day, the Ministry of Defense will periodically issue appropriate explanations on the situation>, - the message reads.
