ArmInfo.On May 14, acting Defense Minister of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan held a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan presented in detail the situation in Syunik as a result of the Azerbaijani provocation and the actions of the Armenian side. Stressing the need for a peaceful settlement of the situation, Harutyunyan considered such provocations against the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia unacceptable, noting that they seriously threaten the already fragile peace, as well as threaten regional security. The RA Defense Minister also said that the Republic of Armenia has officially applied to the Collective Security Treaty Organization in connection with the current situation.
To recall, on the evening of May 13, a telephone conversation took place between Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Stanislav Zas, after which the CSTO press service issued a statement in which, in particular, it was noted: "The organization is closely following the events taking place in the border regions of the Syunik region of Armenia. In parallel with the development of the situation, if necessary, actions will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Security Treaty.
