During the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council, Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of Armenia to the CSTO Viktor Biyagov presented in  detail the provocative actions of the Azerbaijani side committed on  the territory of the Syunik region of the RA and the resulting  situation, in order to provide information on the spot in the  capitals of the CSTO member countries.

According to the RA MFA, Biyagov noted that the provocation carried  out by Azerbaijan is a direct encroachment on the sovereign territory  of Armenia and a serious threat to regional security and stability.   He also stressed that if the withdrawal of the units of the armed  forces of Azerbaijan from the territory of the Republic of Armenia is  not carried out in the shortest and reasonable time, the Azerbaijani  side will bear full responsibility for further escalation.

To note, yesterday a group of Azerbaijani soldiers consisting of  150-200 people illegally entered the territory of the Syunik region  of the Republic of Armenia, and having advanced 3.5 km into the  depths of the country, they are trying to gain a foothold at Sev Lich  (Black Lake). Negotiations have been held between the parties since  yesterday, but the issue has not yet been resolved. The Armenian  authorities confirmed this fact only at night during the session of  the Security Council. The military prosecutor's office instructed the  military police to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the  incident to prepare materials.
