ArmInfo. By the order of the Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan, a working group has been formed in the body of the Prosecutor's Office, which will ensure the rule of law during the upcoming June 20 extraordinary elections to the National Assembly of the country.
Considering the need to conduct the entire electoral process without criminal offenses, in accordance with democratic principles, the RA Prosecutor General will head the working group. The group includes the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, as well as heads of structural divisions of the Prosecutor's Office and employees of the Prosecutor's Office, whose functions are related to criminal proceedings, collection and processing of information on possible crimes during the electoral process.
According to the press service of the department, the working group will also monitor publications in the media on the preparation and conduct of early elections. "In order to increase the efficiency of prosecutorial supervision, the working group will conduct extensive monitoring of coverage of the electoral process in the media, other information and Internet resources in order to detect violations of the law and assist in the preparation of materials in order to organize preliminary investigations to initiate criminal cases.
To ensure the efficiency of work, a hotline will be opened in the RA General Prosecutor's Office in the near future to quickly and efficiently respond to alarms. As part of the fight against electoral crimes, the working group will closely cooperate with the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia, local and international organizations carrying out observation missions, other law enforcement agencies and the media covering the elections.
