ArmInfo. The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, chaired by Judge Anna Danibekyan, (Shengavit residence) today, on August 11, once again postponed the court hearing on the case of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan.
The lawyer of the second president, Aram Vardevanian, submitted a motion to postpone the meeting to a later date - after June 20, due to the fact that his client intends to participate in the early parliamentary elections. As the lawyer noted, Kocharyan, like all participants in the pre-election process, must exercise their constitutional right, and court sessions can put a normal pre-election campaign in a hurry. Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan objected to him, stating that participation in the campaign cannot be a reason to postpone the court session.
Armen Gevorgyan's lawyer Erik Aleksanyan stated that his client has health problems. Due to the fact that Gevorgyan is on outpatient treatment, he asked to postpone the meeting. The prosecutor did not object to Erik Aleksanyan's motion.
Judge Danibekyan, in turn, announced that next week she will take part in the courses of the Academy of Justice. As a result, the next hearing on this case was scheduled for 1:00pm, 25 May.
