ArmInfo.First President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter- Petrosyan offered third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to participate in the upcoming  parliamentary elections as a single bloc, but was refused. This was  reported by Levon Ter-Petrosyan himself on the website ilur.am.

"After Robert Kocharyan categorically rejected my proposal, on May 1  of this year I met with Serzh Sargsyan, invited him to run in the  elections with the ANC-RPA bloc and make a statement drawn up by me.  Of course, this format would not be as effective as the unrealized  trilateral union. My second proposal was also not implemented, since  it was rejected by Sargsyan. Nevertheless, I find it appropriate also  familiarize the public with the text of this statement, "the first  President of the Republic of Armenia noted.

Below it is published the text of the planned joint statement of the  first and third presidents of the Republic of Armenia:  "Considering,  The urgent need to restore the peace of mind of our people after the  war; The need for an early detente of the tense internal political  situation in order to avoid clashes and further deepening of the hate  speech; The painful desire of the government, which has completely  failed in all sectors of government, to reproduce itself at any cost  and its obvious destructive consequences; The goal of the second  president of the Republic of Armenia, not so much in the interests of  the country, but the goal formed by a purely racist motive, And also  the nationwide expectation of the formation of a new government in  Armenia that meets the requirements of national solidarity; We  declare that despite our previous fundamental disagreements, sharp  contradictions, realizing our responsibility for the fate of the  country, not striving to personally occupy any position in the new  management system, we will participate in the upcoming election with  a list called the Alliance of National Accord, consisting of  political forces, non-governmental organizations and prominent  intellectuals who support us. We are convinced that this initiative  will receive a positive response from all Armenians and the  international community.

After the official announcement of the start of the electoral process  and the publication of the list of the bloc, we will hold a press  conference.  We represent the future role of the two of us in the  political life of the country exclusively in the sector of  international relations, in the sector of security, appointed by the  Prime Minister on a voluntary basis.  Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serzh  Sargsyan, Yerevan May 1, 2021 ".  At the same time, the first  President of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that by promulgating  both trilateral and bilateral statements, he pursues only one goal -  to exert public pressure on the second and third presidents, not  excluding yet to realize the union that he imagined.  "Judging by the  reaction to my previous post, I believe that I have partially  achieved my goal. Many politicians, analysts, journalists,  intellectuals who have never been my supporters welcomed this  initiative.  I am sure this publication will receive the same  response. I consider it is necessary to draw attention to a happy  event. "For the first time in our country, we are witnessing a real  political discussion, which I did not manage to achieve when  publishing the article "War or Peace"  in 1997.

Whatever they want to say, the only way to prevent the danger of the  reproduction of the criminal, genocidal regime of Pashinyan, to avoid  new disasters at this moment, is the union of the three former  presidents of the republic. Otherwise, we are threatened by fierce  elections accompanied by extensive use of administrative, financial  and criminal resources, the outcome of which could be more  catastrophic for Armenia and Artsakh than the humiliating defeat in  the last war.  In the end, I want to answer the moral reproach  addressed to me that by declassifying such documents, I violated the  condition of secrecy. I inform you that, firstly, there was no  agreement not to publish, and secondly, in principle, I have never  concluded secret deals with the back of the people.  I consider it my  duty to inform you that the former presidents of Artsakh Arkady  Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan were inspired by the idea of a trilateral  union and made great efforts to implement it, "Ter- Petrosyan  concluded.
