ArmInfo. It is difficult to imagine a greater threat to Artsakh than keeping the issue of its status in uncertainty. This is directly related to the security of Artsakh, Tigran Abrahamyan, a former adviser to the President of Artsakh on security issues, is convinced.
At the same time, he stressed that he implies the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, in particular, an agreement for a 5-year period.
"It becomes obvious that with each five-year plan, in the conditions of the unsettled status of Artsakh, we will face the danger of a new war. It is not yet clear how valuable and what losses each five-year plan of trilateral agreements will be extended, but, unfortunately, it is clear that constant risks will accompany us for decades.
The current authorities not only did not include this issue in the trilateral document, but today they are not taking active steps to return it to the priority agenda, "the expert said.
Abrahamyan believes that in these conditions the Russian side, in turn, will move in the direction and priorities that first of all fit into its regional agenda.
"Armenia as a party is absent even in issues concerning it. And after November 9, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran and others are raising and discussing all issues concerning us with Russia," he summed up.
Note that the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia dated November 9, 2020, among other issues, assumed the introduction of the Russian peacekeeping mission into the Karabakh conflict zone for a period of 5 years, with the possibility of extending the term for another 5 years. If one of the parties decides to suspend peacekeeping activities in the conflict zone, it must notify all interested states six months in advance.
